Porsche 718 Boxster
Introduced in model year 2016, the Porsche 718 Boxster embodies what every Porsche enthusiast expects out of a roadster. It’s exhilarating, confident and technologically advanced, for a ride that gets your adrenaline pumping and your heart racing. With wind-in-hair excitement, a perfectly balanced chassis, a throaty exhaust note and breathtaking performance, you’ll wonder why you deferred on a car like this for so long.
What’s New for 2020?
- Boxster T and Boxster Spyder models
- Flat-six engine along with four-cylinder choices
- 20” wheels on Boxster T
- 13.8” brakes
- Six-speed manual transmission
- Improved vehicle stability control
The new Boxster Spyder features a super-high-strength steel bar and an aluminum/steel composite rear rollbar that provide superb protection in a rollover or side impact, yet are integrated perfectly into the car’s lines. Porsche’s enhanced Stability Management helps keep the Boxster under complete control even as you push the envelope of performance and handling. It works with the optional Sport Chrono package in “Sport” mode to safely help you get the most out of this car’s phenomenal cornering ability and road manners.
We’re especially proud of the 718 Boxster’s engine and performance ability. You can choose from a 300-horsepower turbocharged 2.0L flat-four in the base model, a 350-horsepower turbocharged 2.5L flat-four (S model) or 365-horsepower turbo 2.5L flat-four (GTS model). The GTS is also available with a 394-horsepower naturally-aspirated flat-six engine. All turbo models feature Porsche’s innovative Variable Turbo Geometry, with adjustable vanes on the turbo to deliver the best effects of both a large and small turbo, according to demand.
Just like with the performance and styling of this mid-engine marvel, form follows function in the Boxster’s interior. An ascending center console puts the steering wheel and gearshift in perfect position relative to each other. A 7-inch touchscreen handles all of the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) functions with elegant simplicity. The new sport steering wheel, derived from the 918 Spyder, adds to the cockpit feel of the passenger compartment. And as with all Porsche models, interior options, fabrics, materials and colors are essentially a blank canvas that you can custom-order to suit your tastes…all laid out with attention to ergonomics that makes the Boxster’s interior downright intuitive.
A stylish, nimble sports coupe (or Spyder) that begs to be driven hard, can top out at over 170 mph and is imbued with Porsche style — that’s the 718 Boxster. Don’t just take our word for it; schedule a test-drive at Porsche St Paul and see for yourself.
